Why are my photos free for use?

I take pictures for fun and relaxation. I enjoy walking around neighborhoods and new places, examining things from different angles. I rarely set out with a plan, just wait to be inspired. Closeups, as you'll notice, are among my favorites, especially plants, but anything with bright colors or stark contrast catches my attention. I have thousands of photos spanning over a decade. Last year I decided to just start uploading some of my favorites to Pexels, where anyone can download and use them for free. And plenty of people have!

What makes photography fun is that I'm never thinking about what types of images will sell or what people want to see. I'm exploring the world, one image at a time. If other creatives benefit from free access to my photos, that's all the better. If you're a web developer or designer, graphic artist, marketer, small business owner, or just looking for a new screensaver or desktop background, feel free to use any of my photos as much as you like.
